10/6/2009 - Fall in New Hampshire!
We woke to one of those beautiful fall mornings that make you love New England. The red and yellow leaves were glowing in the early morning sun and the air held a chill. Folks shuffled quickly back and forth between buildings on the way to their jobs or to breakfast, but often took a moment to appreciate the beautiful morning. Above, a shot of... View |

10/6/2009 - Happy Birthday Mr. Ford!
Last night after dinner Mr. Durnan and Mr. Ford orchestrated a near miracle as 275 students signed up with their teachers and advisors. When we finished dinner, it was announced "ready, set, go" and students rushed from one faculty table to another. In fifteen minutes everyone was all set! That is everyone but Mr. Ford's advisees from last... View |

10/5/2009 - This morning, students and faculty (guided by student leaders) headed up the trails behind the athletic fields to the Outdoor Chapel. This place of beauty and calm (okay, and sometimes bugs) was constructed in the early nineties by faculty member Chip Bristol, and commands a beautiful view of the woods and surrounding mountains.
Seated together on mats and informal... View |

10/4/2009 - Dodgeball!
This weekend we welcomed the board of trustees and the class of 1959 (who had 75% of their class return!) for their 50th reunion. In addition we celebrated Chuseok and enjoyed a dodgeball tournament in the gym.
There were over a dozen coed teams, and each team had members from every class. Every team had a theme, a costume, and some made custom T... View |

10/3/2009 - Happy Chuseok!
In Friday's assembly JiEun Sung and SeHan Cho shared with the whole school the meaning of Chuseok. For the American students, the closest holiday would be Thanksgiving because family is very important. There are lots of differences, however, including that it lasts for three days.
On Saturday, Director of Diversity, Tobi Pfenninger, hosted a... View |

This year's fall play is "Rumors" by Neil Simon, a fast-moving farce set in New York City among the elite. You can check it out on the evenings of October 15 (for the school) and October 16 (for the parents on Parents' Weekend). 10/1/2009 - Brownie Night!
Every Thursday night Robin and I are fortunate to host the three dorms on "The Hill." We make brownie sundaes, sit around the kitchen table and tell stories, and then usually a group will go to the basement to play rock band and ping pong. We usually have 15-20 students and consume four large pans of brownies, lots of ice cream, whip cream, and a cou... View |

9/30/2009 - One Love
Last night at dinner Mr. Chapuredima stood up and gave a short but moving announcement about his time at Colby College where he was one of the only students from Africa and one of a few students of color. He said that he and some friends formed a group where they could talk about what it was like to be in that setting; in that group were folks from differe... View |
