A strategic intellectual goal of the school is to make more connections across our curriculum. In addition, we want to be sure that our new students have the skills and habits to do exciting intellectual work during their time at Holderness, such as the senior honors thesis.

9/15/2009 - Advisee-Advisor Dinner
Tonight the kitchen prepared a delectable Italian dinner for all the advisors so that we could host our advisees in our homes or apartments. We ate dinner; talked about the opening of school; briefly reviewed the new handbook; and discussed a few important goals being stressed by the Dean's office this year.

9/14/2009 - On another beautiful fall day, we celebrated both the first day of full classes as well as our first Chapel service. However, the mission of the Chapel program is not to convert students to a particular tradition, but instead to open their minds to... View |

After returning from the Orientation Hike, all new students went to lunch followed by a series of orientation meetings/tours. Meanwhile throughout the morning and afternoon, the returning students moved back into their rooms. At 3:00 the whole school met for a 30 minute assembly. I shared a few thoughts about the coming year, and Mr. Galvin introdu... View |

9/8/2009 - It was five months ago that the 2009-2010 student leaders were selected by their peers for their dependability, initiative, fairness, and leadership ability. This talented and energetic group came back to campus last night, a few days before other returning students arrive, to take part in activities and discussions introducing them to their responsibilities and asking for...
