5/22/2009 - Head's Holiday make up or not?!

As part of this year's Parents' Auction there was a raffle for a student to ring the chapel bells to announce the spring head's holiday. Needless to say, I was mortified the night before this spring's head's holiday when I realized that I forgot which one of the five raffle winners was the student who was suppose to ring the bells. ...   View
5/22/2009 - Yesterday evening after the Senior Movie, we celebrated our Senior Dinner. Seniors sat together, sharing their last family-style meal with one another. Dinner was followed by a brief program, led by President Jake Manoukian. The program included a brief and humorous talk by Mr. Durnan, the presentation of the Bob Brooks Award to Justin Booska '09, the Holderness banner to ...   View
5/22/2009 - A Memorable and Warm Springfest!

A favorite activity in the spring is to hang out on the Webster front porch. Tonight, with music playing from the dance in the background, there was a big crowd in front of Webster soaking in the warm evening and savoring time with each other on our second to last night together.

Earlier in the evening we enjoyed a fabulous ba...   View
5/21/2009 - Yesterday, we hosted the last games of the 2009 spring season. They came as a welcome break from academics during exam week, allowing teams to compete one last time before the summer and giving student athletes a chance to run off some of their exam-induced anxiety.

Over the last several years, we have been pleased to finish our spring seasons against talented Exet...   View
5/20/2009 - With exams comes Exam Bake, a wonderful tradition overseen by the enthusiastic Parents' Association, as parents bring goodies and good cheer to our test-taking student population. The beautiful weather today allowed the parents to take the festivities outside in front of Weld, and the students responded, doing their part to clear off several rounds of cookies, donuts, drin...   View

5/18/2009 - This morning's chapel is also known as the "Exam Chapel," which happens twice a year - once before midyear exams, and again at the end of the year. It is usually brief, so as not to interfere with studying before the first exam on Monday afternoon, but it's more often than not about finishing strongly and reflecting on recent learning, current friendships, and ongoing acco...   View
5/18/2009 - Exam Week Pantry Crew

In order to allow students to focus on exams, faculty assume some of the normal student jobs. During lunch this week there is a faculty rotation doing noon pantry. Pictured here on day one of exams is an enthusiastic faculty pantry work crew.

Thank you Bruce Barton, Janice Dahl, Jory Macomber, Peter Durnan, Margot Moses, and Emily Magnus...   View
5/16/2009 - Concert on the Common

Last night after our barbecue, a group of students and faculty had a semi impromptu "jam sesh" on the Common in front of Livermore. Mr. Lockwood, who is going on the Chair program next year, wanted to get folks together one last time before seniors graduate and he heads off on an exciting adventure for the year. What a delightful way for us the...   View
5/15/2009 - Senior Capstone is a semester-long process in which participating seniors engage in an area of particular personal interest with the academic tools that they have cultivated over the course of their high school careers. In the spring, these students submit an academic paper and produce a public exposition incorporating high-level scholarship with fieldwork and experiential...   View
