5/8/2009 - Happy "Cinco de Mayo!" Well, all right, it's a few days ago, but it's still a great picture.
On Tuesday afternoon, Lori Hyslip (mother of Jack '10) and Nanny Noyes (mother of Charlotte '11) brought all the fixings for a "fantastico Cinco de May fiesta"! We had (non-alcholic) strawberry Margaritas, guacamole, salsa chips, a pinata filled with candy, key lime pie, som... View |

5/8/2009 - To the winners go the spoils, or so the saying goes. Webster Dorm, victorious in the Winter Carnival 2009 competition, earned themselves a week of no dress code, and they decided to cash in this week. And they picked a nice one with the generally pleasant spring weather. Congratulations to Webster; enjoy basking in your glory... in t-shirts and shorts.

5/7/2009 - Did you receive a thank you phone call from an articulate and energetic Holderness student on Tuesday night? We hope so. Several Holderness students - Lauren Giles '09, Lily Kendall '09, Brittany Mcdonald '09, Kristina Micalizzi '12, Faith Barnum '09, Meg McNulty '09, and Chelsea Stevens '10 (not pictured) - hit the phones to thank donors for their gift to this year's Annu... 5/6/2009 - Latin's at it again. Over the past several years, Latin classes at Holderness have engaged in a variety of interesting spring activities, trying to understand (in the words of Latin scholar Mr. Kendall) "how the other half lived." These have included a set of preliminary aqueduct arches, a human-powered chariot, and a medieval siege engine, to name a few.

5/5/2009 - Holderness welcomed a new member to the community a few weeks ago. Mr. Benjamin Lewis was born to Admission Director Tyler Lewis and history teacher Renee Lewis on April 21. Everybody's happy and healthy, and we were thrilled to see the entire family on the sidelines and in the dining hall this past weekend.

5/5/2009 - Happy 40th birthday, Lori Comeau! Every now and then, one of our faculty or staff celebrate an important "landmark" birthday, and their friends make sure that it's celebrated appropriately. Such was the case today, as Larry Gosselin came in early to put up balloons and decorations and students sang "Happy Birthday" to an embarrassed Lori at lunch.

5/4/2009 - Friday the Class of 2009 engaged in what has become a Holderness tradition: Senior Skip Day. After an opportunity to sleep a bit later than usual, the senior class piled on buses and headed south, where they were deposited at Quincy Market for a few hours of free time in Boston. Activities were varied under the cloudy skies. Many seniors walked to the Boston Aquarium and s... View |

5/4/2009 - Every year, several of our students seek confirmation into the Catholic Church. This past weekend, Madeline Burnham '11, Kevin Dachos '11, Lauren Giles '09, and Jaclyn Vernet '11 took an important and thoughtful step in their spiritual development by receiving their confirmation in a beautiful ceremony in Meredith, NH. Margaret Thibadeau '11 recieved her confirmation at ho... View |

5/2/2009 - Yesterday at assembly, AP Biology students Jack Hyslip '10 and Ji Eun Sung '10 provided the student body with a thoughtful - if somewhat light-hearted - introduction to the H1N1 virus. Their presentation addressed the virus's history, transmission, symptoms, current geographical distribution, common misconceptions, and what we can all do to prevent its spread.

4/30/2009 - At Monday morning's chapel, Laney Hayssen '09 shared a personal statement about her own journey to faith, talking about her struggles with religion and doubt. Quoting Hebrews 11:1 ("Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."), she talked about her experiences and how - while still not certain of everything - she has developed a faith th...
