11/13/2008 - Head's Holiday! Randy Houseman said to me last year, "There are three times when I am really envious of your job, and those are the three times when you get to announce a Head's Holiday." This year is somewhat unique in that I was in NYC and had to work with Mr. Macomber and use email to announce the day. Regardless, hopefully it will be a day of rest and getting ahead for... View |

11/12/2008 - It's athletic transition week at Holderness, and most of our teams have put away the soccer balls, footballs, running shorts, mountain bikes, climbing gear (but not all the field hockey sticks!) and are getting ready for winter sports. It's a time to rest for some, and a time to play for others anxious to get some fun time on the basketball court or the hockey rink. Above,... View |

11/11/2008 - In the hands of the right teacher, Smart Boards can be great for demonstrating concepts in new and interesting ways. As they also allow faculty to save their lessons for later viewing by students, they can also be great for a student studying for a test or out on a college visit. Above, math teacher Vicky Stigum uses the Smart Board in her lesson to her Algebra 2 class.... View |

11/10/2008 - The same field hockey team that tied their game against Tabor Academy and assured us the win and trophy this year has made the NEPSAC playoffs! The quarterfinal game matches us against our old foe: KUA. We play over in Meriden, NH this Wednesday at a time to be determined soon. This marks the 16th tournament in a row that the field hockey team has been in the tournament. G... View |

11/9/2008 - Yesterday was Tabor Day at Holderness, the end of our fall sports season. While the weather wasn't the best, the rain did hold off for the most part, and we enjoyed a wonderful day of fun, friends, and competition. In this 13th year of the rivalry, Holderness emerged victorious, scoring more points in the many JV and varsity competitions. Above, several of our captains hol... View |

11/8/2008 - Tabor Day dinner is a festive meal, where teams sit together, the dining hall is decorated with balloons, music is playing, and everyone is in great spirits. In addition, faculty and staff do all the jobs so the students can enjoy the night off from work. Some teams even dress for the occasion. The girls JV 1 team dressed like the 80's. Looking very 80's-like are: Holly Bl... View |

11/8/2008 - Bonfire! One of the highlights of Tabor Day is the bonfire. After study hall last night, we went to Hagerman and saw a sports slide show, laughed at a Tabor Day video, and enjoyed two skits by the improv team. After short team meetings, everyone went to the Southside where we gathered around the bonfire. As is evident in this picture, the seniors set the tone. They cover t... View |

11/7/2008 - In preparation for Tabor Day, we have theme dress days today and tomorrow. Today was dress like a Tabor student, and tomorrow will be spirit day, dress in blue and white. No question, the class of 2012 certainly got into the spirit of things. Pictured here are Tabor look alike members from the ninth grade class: Thany Alexander, Pipa Blau, Chris Daniell, Yejin Hwang, Chris... View |

11/7/2008 - Holderness is privileged to have a close relationship with the Pucker Gallery in Boston, MA, allowing us to host world-class exhibits in our own Edwards Art Gallery. David Winkler from the Pucker Gallery introduced the latest exhibit in Chapel last night; it features the beautiful ceramic work of Brother Thomas, a talented and thoughtful artist who recently passed away. 11/6/2008 - Yesterday evening the boys' varsity soccer team played an undefeated Winchendon squad. Through inspiring team play, this young group jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first half. They were able to hang on to a 2-1 lead as senior Mark Haggarty saved over a dozen shots on goal in the closing minutes. As the sun set, the boys continued to play tough. The fortunate spectators were t... View |
