Each Monday for the past four months Rich Weymouth has hosted confirmation classes/dinners at his house, talking about faith, life, the Episcopal Church, and how God i... View |

5/1/2010 - A warm Spring weekend night at Holderness!
The boys in Galvin had their slack line up and great music and lights playing outside, so the weekend crew decided to bring the fun where the fun was, and carried the fire pit with s'mores and all to the Galvin's yard. There the kids set up shop for the evening, hanging out in the perfect spring air and roasting marshmallow... View |

4/30/2010 - Something cool happened this morning in Mr. Kendall's Latin class. Guest teachers Mr. Nicolay and Mr. Houseman joined Mr. Kendall in a "we're-going-to-blow-something-up" kind of chemistry demo. But, beyond that, it was also cool in that it provided a great example of teaching across disciplines.
We'll let Mr. Kendall explain the activity and its background:

4/28/2010 - Perhaps it's because we transitioned to spring dress code on Friday. Perhaps it's penance for some unknown wrong. Perhaps it's because New Englanders like a good joke. Whatever the reason, it started to snow yesterday evening, and the weather forecast opens the possibility that some of it might even stick before it's over.
Above, a photo of students on their way to... View |

4/26/2010 - This morning's chapel featured Judith Solberg, archives manager and current school historian. She re-introduced us to the Chapel, giving us the history and stories behind its many stained glass windows.
The stories she told provided thoughtful insight into Holderness past - did you know that in May, 1945, there were 232 Holderness alumni serving in the military? Thi... View |

4/26/2010 - Connections. They're what separate the merely academic from the truly intellectual. And those connections were in play today in John Teaford's class.
The junior English curriculum is constructed with Out Back - an eleven-day, ten-night outdoor camping trip for the junior class - in mind. Early in the year, students read literature about the environment and outdoor... View |

4/25/2010 - A Spring Weekend at Holderness!
This Saturday we enjoyed a wonderfully sunny day with several fun home games. In the evening, we had the option of watching "The Wiz," or hanging out on the quad, complete with a van, DJ, and a terrific sound system. Meanwhile the weekend crew was cooking hot dogs and burgers in front of Weld, and at the new student fire pit students ... View |
